From Legion of Boom to Legion of Gloom, the Seattle Seahawks are facing more problems on defense this offseason.

In a statement released on his Twitter account, three-time All-Pro safety Earl Thomas announced that while he wants to "remain a Seahawk" for the rest of his career, he would not be attending the team's mandatory minicamp this week, or any future team activities, due to a contract dispute.

"I want to have certainty in regards to the upcoming years of my career," wrote Thomas, who is entering the final year of a four-year, $40 million deal.

Drafted in 2010, Thomas has spent all eight years of his NFL career in Seattle. During that time, he has been selected to six Pro Bowls and was a member of the vaunted "Legion of Boom" defense that helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl in 2013.

Alongside linebacker Bobby Wagner, Thomas is only other notable defender who survived a roster overhaul this offseason. While Kam Chancellor's status remains questionable after a serious neck injury, Richard Sherman was cut, Michael Bennett was traded, Sheldon Richardson became a free agent and Cliff Avril was released after a failed physical.

The 29-year-old Thomas had 88 combined tackles, one forced fumble and two interceptions in fourteen 14 games last season.
