On Sunday, Trevor Davis was a very late addition to the Green Bay Packers' injury report after he arrived at Lambeau Field with his hamstring bothering him. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said the team took him out on the field for an early workout, and "he wasn't ready to go."

Davis was inactive for the game, and on Tuesday, the team placed him on injured reserve.

The 25-year-old third-year pro missed almost all of the preseason with a hamstring injury before returning to action for the final preseason game against Kansas City on Aug. 30.

Davis would be eligible to return to the team after missing eight weeks, should the club elect to use that designation on him.

To fill the roster spot, the Packers claimed cornerback Deante Burton (6-2, 200 pounds) off waivers from Atlanta. Burton was an undrafted free agent out of Kansas State who spent all of 2017 on the practice squad. He played five defensive snaps and 18 on special teams for the Falcons in their season opener Thursday before being waived.

The Packers also made other minor roster moves early in the week. On Tuesday, the club released safety Marwin Evans off the practice squad and filled that position with cornerback Will Redmond.

Redmond was a third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2016.

According to the NFL transaction wire, the team also released corner Quinten Rollins and running back Devante Mays on Monday with injury settlements. The two were placed on injured reserve after final cuts Sept. 3

It was an unceremonious end to Rollins' brief time in Green Bay. A second-round pick out of Miami (Ohio) in 2015, Rollins played in 33 career games and had three interceptions.
