Packers TE Lance Kendricks charged with possession of THC
GREEN BAY - Green Bay Packers tight end Lance Kendricks has been charged with possession of THC stemming from a traffic stop in early September. The district attorney in Outagamie County filed the charge Dec. 5, according to court records.
Kendricks, 29, was stopped for speeding in the early-morning hours of Sept. 2 while driving home from Wisconsin’s football game against Utah State. Though he only received a warning — he was driving 81 mph in a 70-mph zone — a state trooper smelled marijuana through the passenger window during a conversation with Kendricks.

A search of the vehicle produced a small, round Louis Vuitton toiletry-type bag containing some marijuana, two packs of rolling papers and a metal grinder, according to the incident report. Kendricks originally told the trooper he smoked all the marijuana in the bag before ultimately disclosing the leftovers.
Kendricks was allowed to leave the scene with a warning for speeding, and the trooper referred potential drug charges to the Outagamie County District Attorney’s office.
It is not unusual for charges to be filed long after the initial incident. A year ago, wide receiver Geronimo Allison was charged with possession of marijuana several months after his arrest on Sept. 4, 2016. Allison ultimately received a one-game suspension from the NFL for violating the substance-abuse policy.
Kendricks would be subject to punishment under the same policy upon conclusion of his case. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 14.
